"Thrashoholic" by Dead Bird Movement

Seattle-based modern dance company Dead Bird Movement returns to eighteen-thirty with "Thrashoholic," a duet between dancer and drummer that pushes the boundaries of endurance through the consecutive execution of 100 short contemporary dance solos. Dancer and drummer's styles follow a similar trajectory: Smith's movements range from precise adagios to thrashing outbursts, while Mitchell's drumming mixes metal beats with complex polyrhythms.  This dynamic pair blends fierce rock sensibilities with meticulous technique. As the performers near exhaustion, "Thrashoholic" takes an unexpected twist when the piece is cast into the realm of experimental performance art with unpredictable and potentially messy results.
