Something more is needed; this is a reaction.

In a city already vibrant with traditional gallery spaces, eighteen-thirty opened its doors in May 2007 as a performance art space dedicated to providing a unique location for intimate, engaging, and provocative performance art. Focusing on the experience rather than product, eighteen-thirty collaborates closely with artists to produce momentary and site-specific situations that question the boundaries of traditional art spaces. Building on the notion of performance as a confrontational practice and the art space as a tool for expression, eighteen-thirty re-examines the role and relationship of the artist, the curator, and the viewer to expand the impact of art in our everyday lives.
